Trimega are 1st lab to test for mephedrone
Trimega's Manchester lab is the first in the UK to test hair samples for mephedrone. The synthetic drug - which has become the fourth most popular street drug in the United Kingdom behind cannabis, cocaine, and ecstasy – was recently reclassified as a banned substance by the Government, having previously been marketed as 'plant food'.

Trimega, the leading experts in FAEE and EtG
Trimega Laboratories are the leader and only company in the world that currently measure both forms of hair alcohol testing (FAEE and EtG). This, coupled with our growing data-set of alcohol testing for child protection, establishes our methods as world leading.
Use FAEE and EtG together
FAEE & EtG tests each look for different markers but either method can be used independently for chronic excessive alcohol consumption assessment. For mutual confirmation and for exclusion of false positive or false negative results the determination of both parameters can be useful in some special cases. This was recently stated in the joint consensus of The Society of Hair Testing meeting (represented by 23 countries) in Rome, June 2009.
EtG results should not be segmented
As EtG is deposited into hair mainly from sweat and lies against the scalp surface for several
centimetres as it grows down, mature sections of hair are being bathed in the EtG-laden sweat.
Thus it is scientifically unsound to offer segmented results on a month-by-month basis in order
to establish a chronological pattern of consumption. It is therefore only possible to provide an
average level of consumption for the period of time being tested for.
Beware of the 'wash-out' effect with isolated EtG testing
Using the EtG test in isolation carries the risk of the 'wash-out' effect whereby the frequent washing and intense shampooing of a donor's hair slowly removes the EtG marker that has been deposited onto the hair. As a result, this marker is sensitive to false-negative results. Trimega Laboratories therefore, recommends the combined use of EtG and FAEE testing at all times.
The combination of blood and hair testing
Only Trimega Laboratories combine traditional blood tests together with Hair Alcohol Testing to provide the most comprehensive results currently available. Trimega Laboratories offers a complete alcohol testing package, increasing the accuracy of interpretation and portraying your client's alcohol history for up to six months, including abstinence.
Crack cocaine is derived from powder cocaine
Crack cocaine is derived from powder cocaine in a smokeable form. It is a white or cream wax-like solid, which is usually sold at street level in small lumps or 'rocks'. The name 'crack' may also be derived from the cracking sound that is made when rocks are smoked. A hair test for cocaine followed by a positive result does not distinguish between cocaine in the smoked or powder form. Cocaine in both the smoked and powder form are both Class A drugs which attach with it the illegality of the activity / possession.
