With a new government in place, chief executive of the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers (ALMR) Nick Bish has said that the pub industry should be looking at the Department of Health whose health lobby is having a increasing influence on government policy. Many in the trade are concerned about the continued demonisation of alcohol. Bish has welcomed the 5-year fixed term government, saying that it would allow the ALMR to be more “strategic” and draw up a shopping list for the trade when “things calm down”.
